Treating Long Covid

ss94.png

It's no secret that the COVID pandemic has wreaked havoc on practically everyone we know. Unsurprisingly, more than 80% of Americans have had acute COVID. Consider yourself extremely lucky if you managed to get over it with no issues, but for a small portion of the population, Long COVID (symptoms that persist long after initial infection) has created an unexpected roadblock on the path to normalcy.

If you find yourself dealing with Long COVID, it can be incredibly isolating. Most people just do not understand. Western doctors have little to offer in terms of treatment, but just know that you are NOT ALONE. Did you know that among 330 million Americans, 10 million people have reported persistent post COVID symptoms 3 months past initial infection, and another 2-4 million ONE YEAR after?

At Cucamonga Acupuncture & Wellness, clinical director and board-certified sole practitioner Jasmine Casupanan, L.Ac has successfully treated and managed the worst symptoms for numerous patients struggling with Long Covid.

We believe in the power of integrative medicine, personalized plans, and compassionate care to treat the root of the issue, rather than just masking the symptoms. Our goal is for our patients to get their life back, and not have to worry about how much worse it's going to get in the future. Using a refined combination of traditional acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and ATP Resonance BioTherapy we are able to achieve powerful results for those suffering the aftermath of Covid.

Along with acupuncture, our clinic is the only clinic you will find within the Inland Empire that implements the use of ATP Resonance BioTherapy. While acupuncture/electroacupuncture works to break up pain signals, ATP Resonance BioTherapy is a unique and immensely powerful adjunct frequency specific micro-current therapy that increases the metabolic function of the different parts of the body at a cellular level. To put it simply, we're refining and updating the software that is your body. Just like you update your phone every once in awhile to run more efficiently, we are updating your cells!

Among the myriad of persisting symptoms, several conditions have taken center stage, casting a spotlight on the intricate and sometimes baffling nature of this post-viral syndrome. We can help by addressing the following:

1. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS): One of the puzzling outcomes of long COVID is its link to Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, or POTS. This condition disrupts the autonomic nervous system, leading to an abnormal increase in heart rate upon standing. Individuals who were once active and vibrant find themselves grappling with symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and a rapid heart rate, turning everyday activities into unexpected challenges.

2. Reactivated Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV): Long COVID has been associated with the reactivation of the Epstein-Barr Virus, a common virus that many people carry without experiencing symptoms. The reactivation, however, can manifest as persistent fatigue, muscle aches, and other flu-like symptoms. For those already navigating the hurdles of long COVID, the resurgence of EBV adds an additional layer of complexity to their health journey.

3. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS): Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a condition characterized by persistent and unexplained fatigue, has become a prevalent issue among long COVID survivors. The unrelenting exhaustion can be debilitating, impacting not only physical well-being but also mental health. Individuals find themselves caught in a cycle of fatigue, often struggling to find respite and a return to their pre-COVID energy levels.

4. Loss of Taste and Smell: Among the early hallmark symptoms of COVID-19 was the loss of taste and smell. However, for some long COVID sufferers, this sensory impairment lingers, adding a layer of frustration to their daily lives. The joy of savoring a favorite meal or the comfort of familiar scents becomes a distant memory, emphasizing the unpredictable and persistent nature of long COVID's impact.

5. Dysautonomia: Dysautonomia, a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, is another complication emerging in the aftermath of long COVID. This condition disrupts the body's ability to regulate essential functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. The result is a myriad of symptoms, including fainting, digestive issues, and temperature dysregulation, further highlighting the complex interplay of long COVID on the body's intricate systems.

6. MCAS/Histamine Intolerance: Long COVID survivors may also experience Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) or Histamine Intolerance, which can present as a range of symptoms such as allergic reactions, gastrointestinal issues, and neurological symptoms. This adds an additional layer of complexity to the post-viral syndrome, requiring comprehensive care and attention to address the diverse array of lingering symptoms.

COVID does not have to be the end of the road. We can help.
