"My feet feel like they're on fire."
"Each steps feels like I'm walking through wet paint."
"I live in constant fear that I'll fall."
"I can't sleep, my hands and feet tingle all night."

If any of this sounds familiar, you are one of more than 20 million people in the U.S. suffering from peripheral neuropathy. We can help.

Neuropathy (or Peripheral Neuropathy), a condition characterized by damage to the peripheral nerves, causes symptoms such as numbness, tingling, burning pain, and muscle weakness. The most common causes of peripheral neuropathy are diabetes, thyroid disorders, vitamin B12 deficiency, alcohol abuse, chemotherapy, HIV infection, and sometimes as a result of a spinal injury. In over 1/3 of cases, doctors simply don't know the cause.

Neuropathy can affect your hands and feet as well as progress up your legs over time, making it difficult to drive and even walk. This debilitating condition can significantly impact your daily life and put you at risk of serious falls or injury. If you feel like your feet are on fire or sometimes can't feel them at all it can be a very scary experience. When the medications only work sometimes, the physical therapy hasn't worked at all, and your doctor has nothing left to offer but another prescription and their condolences, it may be time to try acupuncture.

We believe in the power of integrative medicine, personalized plans, and compassionate care to treat the root of the issue, rather than just masking the symptoms. Our goal is for our patients to get their life back, and not have to worry about how much worse it's going to get in the future. Using a refined combination of traditional acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and ATP Resonance BioTherapy we are able not only to make the future brighter for our patients but also achieve powerful, consistent results.

Along with acupuncture, our clinic is the only clinic you will find within the Inland Empire that implements the use of ATP Resonance BioTherapy. While acupuncture and electroacupuncture works to break up pain signals, ATP Resonance BioTherapy is a unique and immensely powerful adjunct frequency specific micro-current therapy that increases the metabolic function of the different parts of the body at a cellular level. To put it simply, we're refining and updating the software that is your body. Just like you update your phone every once in awhile to run more efficiently, we are updating your cells!

How does it work?

It used to be that the public thought acupuncture was nothing but a pseudo-science, a placebo. Well, millions of patients and hundreds of research studies into present day have since proven that idea wrong and demystified the mechanism of how acupuncture works.

With regards to neuropathy, the myelin sheath that coats and protects all our nerves has been severely damaged, covered in lesions caused by severe oxidative stress. Medications like gabapentin and muscle relaxers may provide some slight relief, but these are bandaids meant to cover up the symptoms without actually taking care of the root problem.

Our customized treatment plans address two things: pain and nerve dysfunction.

Acupuncture points are activity centers -- when stimulated correctly they systematically flood the body not only with nourishment from increased blood circulation but also with powerful pain-relieving endorphins (aka HAPPY HORMONES) such as enkephalin's, beta-endorphins, dynorphins, and ACTH. At the same time, acupuncture begins a chain of reactions driving the vagal-adrenal axis to release catecholamines (norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine) to curb and reduce inflammation for lasting effects. Many medications seek to mimic the effects of these neurotransmitters, but not without some nasty side effects.

As the body habituates strong painkiller use, in time it not only damages the pain receptors and builds up a tolerance so strong the only options left are prescribing stronger dosages or an even stronger prescription. What's more, the body basically forgets how to and becomes unable to release and form these neurotransmitters on its own. Acupuncture works by letting the body inform the brain, strengthening the connection between the two, and allowing it to do what it was meant to do for thousands of years.... heal.

One of the most important type of cells located in the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS) and making up about 90% of the brain is the glial cell. Glial cells are sometimes referred to as the "glue" of the nervous system, responsible for providing physical and chemical support to neurons and maintaining their environment. Healthy happen neurons = happy muscles, no numbness, no tingling, no burning.

Specifically the Schwann cell (SC), the major glial cell of the PNS is responsible for keeping neurons alive and covering them with a healthy myelin sheath, SC's promote axonal regeneration and secrete critical neurotrophic factors such as nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Electroacupuncture releases and regulates Schwann cells, NGF, and BDNF to effectively regenerate nerve fibers and form new synapses along their pathway.

If you don't remember anything else from freshman year biology, you probably remember that "the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell"! Well, what seemed like pretty useless information at the time actually ties in so much about what we know about health today. Yes, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell as it's responsible for the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) -- a critical supplier of energy. ATP IS ENERGY, it is a type of Qi, it's used by muscles to move, it's the fuel that drives all the physiological processes of the body. When our cells are damaged or our mitochondria is otherwise unable to produce ATP, we cannot have proper cell function, our bodies cannot metabolize food, absorb important nutrients, or dispose itself of toxins.

If the engine isn't working properly, no amount or quality of fuel (vitamins, supplements, medications) will get you as far as you could potentially go.

Our customized acupuncture protocols along with ATP Resonance BioTherapy increases ATP production at 500x the normal rate, expedites protein synthesis, drives oxygenation and increases healthy blood flow. Altogether we are able to rehabilitate damaged nerves, neutralize systemic inflammation, and feel like your whole self again!

One of the advantages of our treatment program that our patients especially love is the low risk of adverse side effects. Compared to pharmacological treatments, acupuncture is a safe and non-invasive option for individuals suffering from neuropathy. You don't have to trade in relief for nasty side effects.

All of our modalities are generally safe to use on patients who have surgically installed hardware like pins, plates, artificial joints, stents, pacemakers, pumps, and spinal cord stimulators. It can be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments or as a standalone therapy, depending on the severity and underlying cause of the neuropathy. (Our practitioner of course will better assess risk and approach with caution on a case by case basis.)

The number of treatments needed to allow the nerves to fully recover will vary from person to person. This can only be determined after a detailed neurological and vascular evaluation. So long as you have not sustained more than 85% nerve damage, we can offer hope where once there was none. We create an individualized plan specific to YOU.
