Why do so many couples experience fertility concerns?

Some reasons why couples experience infertility may include: stress, underlying medical issues, modern agricultural practices/pesticides, the increased number of medications we take, as well as our dependence on plastic and technology that is constantly emitting low-grade radiation. While many times infertility is thought of as a female issue, it is really a factor for both men and women and should therefore be addressed as such. The most common cause of female infertility is due to a problem with ovulation. This can be caused by imbalanced hormones, stress, or even a buildup of excess phlegm in the lower body. All of these situations may prevent the release of a mature egg from the ovaries. Acupuncture has been shown in numerous studies to increase success of IVF, enhance sperm count and quality in males, and help with egg maturation in females.

Here's how acupuncture may be beneficial for fertility:

Hormonal regulation: Acupuncture helps regulate hormonal imbalances that can affect fertility. Stimulating specific acupuncture points is believed to influence the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, which plays a crucial role in regulating hormone levels and menstrual cycles.

Improved blood flow to the reproductive organs: Acupuncture enhances blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, which can improve ovarian function, promote follicle development, and increase the thickness of the uterine lining, creating a more receptive environment for implantation.

Stress reduction: The fertility journey can be stressful and negatively impact fertility. Acupuncture sessions induce relaxation and reduce stress levels, improving overall well-being and fertility outcomes.

Enhanced reproductive function: Acupuncture may help improve ovarian function and egg quality, enhance sperm quality and motility, and regulate menstrual cycles. It can also support the overall health of the reproductive system.

Side effects management: Fertility treatments, such as ART, can sometimes lead to side effects or discomfort. Acupuncture may help manage these side effects, including pain, bloating, and emotional stress associated with fertility treatments.

Remember, our goal is a healthy baby in your arms at the end of this story.

Acupuncture should be started for 2-3 menstrual cycles before attempting to conceive. This preparatory period is required to make your body a place that welcomes life. Our program can be started in any part of your journey whether you have been struggling for months or years with fertility issues or are in the middle of your ART/IUI/IVF cycle or have just had a miscarriage. We are here to help at any time.

Yes, especially in high-risk pregnancies. The first trimester is when most miscarriages occur, and our best recommendation is to have acupuncture to maintain your pregnancy and see you through to the second trimester. Our goal is for you to have a healthy baby in your arms. Many women will continue acupuncture treatments throughout pregnancy to support their overall well-being. A combination of acupuncture, nutrition, and lifestyle recommendations can be used to reduce stress, minimize nausea and headache, and alleviate low back pain or pressure common in the later stages of pregnancy.

Our best recommendation is for your partner to receive treatment once per week while you are in the conception process until pregnancy occurs. There may also be targeted nutritional supplementation based upon his specific needs and to encourage an increased number and improved motility in sperm.

Our best recommendation is treatment beginning three months before conception until the end of the second trimester. That means a minimum of 6 months of treatment. Remember, our goal is a healthy baby in your arms at the end of this story.
